The importance of feeling safe in relationship
Relational therapy forms the foundation of all of our work together. It is built on the understanding that our relationships shape how we see ourselves and what we come to expect from connection — whether that is safety or rejection, trust or unpredictability.
Over time, we develop ways of protecting ourselves within relationships. Some patterns may once have helped us survive difficult experiences, but can later leave us feeling disconnected, anxious, overwhelmed, or alone.
Relational therapy gently explores these patterns and creates space for healthier, more compassionate ways of relating — both to others and to yourself.
In a safe and respectful space, I will support you in noticing how you respond to closeness, conflict, vulnerability, or boundaries. When old patterns emerge, they are met without judgement.
Together, we begin asking questions such as:
- Where did this response come from?
- How did it once protect or serve you?
- Does it still serve you now?
This process can help reduce shame and increase self-compassion — both of which are essential in building healthier and more meaningful connections.
